Shaq's Championships

Board & Staff — The Shaquille O'Neal Foundation

Within Shaq's impressive resume, the path to four NBA championships shows the truth of his unbelievable and never ending talent. Shaq's championship story begins with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he teamed up with a young Kobe Bryant. Guided by Shaq's great coach, Shaq and Kobe formed a duo that dominated the NBA in the early 2000s. The Lakers won their first championship in this era in 2000, which was Shaq's first NBA title. Shaq's hard work had earned him the Finals MVP, an award he would win in 2001 and 2002 as the Lakers pulled off a three consecutive championships. Kobe and Shaq were really unstoppable back in their time. After his departure from the Lakers in 2004, Shaq was traded to the Miami Heat. While Shaq was in the Miami's, Shaq teamed up with another famous person, Dwyane Wade. The duo proceeded to make the Heat's first NBA championship in 2006, with Shaq providing leadership and a strong inside presence, and Wade's star play netting him the Finals MVP. Those four championships made Shaquille O'Neal as one of the all-time great centers in NBA history. His unique combination of size, strength, and skill set him apart from the other NBA players. This is why most people (like me) admire Shaq for his ability to raise his level in those most critical moments in game will be remembered forever. Now, Shaq's championship will be remembered as some of the highlights of his Hall of Fame career.
